Known as the Jennings Creek Wildfire, the blaze has put two residential buildings in New Jersey and 14 structures on East Shore Road in New York at risk, along with eight historic buildings in the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said in the latest update Sunday morning, Nov. 10.
The fire remains 0% contained as crews work urgently to protect these areas.
Meanwhile, the Cannonball 3 Wildfire in Pompton Lakes has grown to 175 acres and is now 75% contained. Despite this progress, 55 nearby structures remain at risk, although no evacuations have been ordered. Cannonball Road is closed, while Interstate 287, which was previously affected, has reopened to traffic.

With East Shore and Beech Roads closed and all trails in Long Pond Ironworks State Park off-limits, both fires have prompted road closures and significant firefighting efforts.
Resources include fire engines, ground crews, and a water-dropping helicopter to contain the rapidly advancing flames. Authorities have yet to determine the causes of either blaze, but they are urging the public to steer clear of affected areas and stay informed as firefighting efforts continue.
The fires have largely been caused by a record drought across the region that forecasters say will likely end Sunday night.
